Jayne Wing
Jayne possesses a diverse knowledge of various dance genres and thus is an esteemed adjudicator with the British and International Federation of Festivals, and serves as the dance representative on the council. She also judges for All England Dance.
Jayne started her training as a dedicated gymnast, achieving recognition by winning the UK team schools’ gymnastics competition. However, her true passion lay in dance, which inspired her to become a certified teacher and adjudicator in acrobatic arts. She trained for a teacher diploma, and was the only student in her cohort to graduate with qualifications in four different dance genres.
Jayne’s professional experience is extensive. She performed frequently in the West End and was a member of the original London cast of Annie. Later, she established a dance school in Leicester, UK, which has thrived for 38 years. It is an Approved Dance Centre for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, and Jayne serves as an approved tutor for the Diploma in Dance Education. In addition to her teaching, Jayne has been an examiner with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing for two decades, holding fellowship status in National, Modern Theatre, and Tap faculties. She is also an active committee member of the National Dance Faculty and was honoured with the Helen Wingrave Scholarship from the society, which she utilized to deepen her expertise in national dance.
Jayne remains committed to her professional development by continually studying various forms of folk dance and traveling throughout Europe to enhance her knowledge and skills. Her background in the acrobatic dance areas and her interest in authentic national dances as well as the conventional theatre branches across all age ranges as an examiner make Jayne an ideal adjudicator for international youth competitions such as DWC.
