2026 World Finals Judge
Paul Robinson
Paul was born in Bolton and trained at Arts Educational in London. Paul has worked extensively as a director/choreographer and also as a triple threat performer. His acting, singing and dancing performance credits include Don Lockwood in the West Yorkshire Playhouse’s production of Singin’ in the Rain at the National Theatre for which he received an Olivier nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.
Other notable theatre performing credits, in the UK and internationally, include principal roles, such as Captain von Trapp, in The Sound of Music (Qatar and Dubai), Chicago (Kuala Lumpur), White Christmas, BBC Proms, Strictly Gershwin, Guys and Dolls, and High Society. Paul was Lead Dancer in the Tap Dogs (World Tour), appeared in Hot Shoe Shuffle (UK Tour) and in the original cast for 42nd Street at Theatre Royal. He has appeared with Anthony Newley in Scrooge: The Musical (UK Tour), and Michael Ball in Concert (UK Tour), Sugar Babies with Ann Miller and Mickey Rooney and has even had a two year residency ‘Sing For Your Supper’ at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, London.
On screen, Paul’s performing credits include Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh, for Disney, Your Mum, My Dad (ITV), and Rivals ( Disney+).
Paul’s choreographic direction include many popular shows such as the 42nd Street Gala, BBC Proms, tap choreographer for Strictly Gershwin, John Barrowman in Concert, Music Under The Stars (BBC), Benidorm (ITV), A Celebration Gala (BBC). Internationally he has directed Evita (Beirut), Cabaret (Toronto), Oliver! (Toronto), and Scrooge: The Musical (Melbourne). In the UK he has choreographed Cabaret and Barnum, Sherlock Holmes The Musical, Beauty and the Beast, as well as having been commissioned to create choreography for over 40 pantomimes. Paul has directed Finding the Light for Artscape Opera House, Cape Town, and directed and choreographed The Sound of Music at Alexela Concert Hall, Tallinn. In addition, Paul has recently choreographed the feature film The Duchess and I with Dame Joan Collins and Isabella Rossellini, directed by Mike Newell. Due for release in September!
