On Friday the 24th of June 2022 San Sebastián, Spain welcomed us longing to travel internationally and participate live once again in one of the greatest all-genre World Dance Championships with open arms, spoiling us with a competition venue overlooking a wide sandy beach described as one of the best in-city beaches in Europe, wonderful friendly people everywhere you went, world-class Michelin stars dining, and art and cultural appreciation.

The Kursaal Congress Centre was the perfect venue to host over 10,000 passionate dancers, teachers and audience members with their 2 auditoriums and multipurpose rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and an experienced team of staff. The Victoria Eugenia Theatre where the Galas were held left everyone in awe with its beauty and spectacular grandeur.

A highlight of the event was when the whole town came out in droves to enjoy the street parade of energetic dancers from 40 countries singing, cheering and carrying their countries flags with pride making their way to the majestic San Sebastián City Hall for the DWC opening ceremony. The echoes of national anthems being sung was truly an amazing experience, uniting countries through the language of dance.

It was also the first time that semi-finals were held for various children and junior solo classes with the top 10 of each class going through to the grand finals to go head-to-head for being awarded the honorary title as the most outstanding performance of 2022.

Each country showcased their top talents with spectators being left astonished by the dancers’ spectacular dance routines. With an outstanding amount of over 5000 dancers, the 2022 Dance World Cup finals truly is not one to forget.
