Raquel Rey Ramos comes from Madrid (Spain). She started ballet at 4 years of age, becoming a professional dancer at 17.
She has performed with many different companies, arriving in Switzerland in 2006 and joining Ballet Basel under the direction of Richard Wherlock. This company, and the country overall, changed her life. Feeling at home immediately and falling in love with the natural beauty of Switzerland, she has made it her permanent home.
Her 13 years with Ballet Basel were absolutely amazing, filled with experiences that fulfilled her artistic dreams as a professional dancer. During her final 3 years in Basel, she began sewing as a hobby — an activity that helped her stay calm, “a kind of meditation.” She soon felt strongly that this was to become her career after dance. So, when she decided to stop dancing, she already knew which step she had to take.
In 2019, she retired from professional dancing and began retraining, studying for 3 years to become a tailor. Raquel now has 6 years of experience in tailoring and a great passion for her craft. She is always looking for new things to learn and new projects to explore.
