A Look Back At Where The World Finals Were Held
The 2025 Dance World Cup World Finals took place in Burgos, Spain, bringing together over 25,000 people from 3 to 12 July. 8,500 dancers from 51 countries performed more than 7,000 routines across four stages: two at Fórum Evolución, one at Teatro Principal, and one at Colegio Círculo. The event featured 160 masterclasses, Street Battles, and an exclusive performance by the 2025 DWC Contemporary Ballet Company with Richard Wherlock, presenting Ravel’s Bolero. Stephen Mear CBE and Ruthie Henshall created a Guys and Dolls piece for the Grand Finals. DWC 2025 united talent, creativity, and passion from around the globe in an unforgettable celebration of dance.
The Dance World Cup 2024 World Finals took place at the Prague Congress Centre from 27 June to 6 July. The event welcomed 9,500 dancers from 54 countries, supported by 20,000 spectators. Three stages ran daily from morning to evening, with routines judged by 37 international experts. Over 120 masterclasses were taught by esteemed teachers and industry professionals. Highlights included the opening parade through Prague, special performances by Kotan, Awaji World Ballet, and Enraizao, and galas featuring Prima ballerina Daria Klimentova and Abby Lee Miller. The newly formed DWC Junior Dance Company debuted two pieces choreographed by Richard Wherlock, leaving audiences amazed.
The 2023 Dance World Cup World Finals returned to Braga, Portugal from 30 June to 8 July. Over 7,500 dancers from more than 50 countries participated, performing 4,800 routines across three stages in two major venues. The event featured masterclasses by world-renowned choreographers, a large opening flag parade, DJ parties, and hip-hop battles. The Theatro Circo hosted the Grand Finals and Gala performances, closing the event with outstanding displays of dance talent.
The 2022 Dance World Cup World Finals were held in the vibrant coastal city of San Sebastián, Spain. The Kursaal Congress Centre hosted over 10,000 dancers, teachers, and supporters across its advanced performance spaces. The Victoria Eugenia Theatre provided a magnificent setting for the Gala events. Forty countries participated, showcasing extraordinary talent throughout nine days of competition and workshops, creating lifelong memories in a beautiful seaside environment.
Dance World Cup successfully organised a combined live and video event for the 2020 and 2021 Finals, featuring over 7,200 dancers from more than forty countries. The Telford International Centre hosted the live competition, offering an excellent main stage and a dedicated prize-giving stage. The city warmly welcomed dancers and supporters, creating an unforgettable 11 days of dance during challenging global circumstances.
Braga, Portugal provided a perfect blend of history, culture, and cuisine for the 2019 Dance World Cup Finals. More than 6,000 dancers from 53 countries attended the event, embracing the city’s charm and character. Braga is known for its rich heritage, stunning architecture, and scenic natural surroundings. The warm hospitality and vibrant atmosphere made 2019 an unforgettable year for participants and supporters.
The 2018 Dance World Cup Finals took place in Sitges, Spain, a beautiful seaside town known for its creativity and Mediterranean charm. With 5,850 dancers representing over 46 countries, the opening ceremony along the beachfront created a spectacular atmosphere. Sitges offered perfect weather, vibrant culture, and stunning coastal scenery, making the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Offenburg, Germany hosted the 2017 Dance World Cup Finals, welcoming 4,000 dancers from 49 countries. The opening ceremony filled the streets of Offenburg’s Marktplatz with music, flags, and national pride as dancers paraded through the city. Exceptional performances across all genres showcased the international talent and spirit that define the event.
The 2016 Dance World Cup Finals were held in Jersey, Channel Islands, with over 3,000 dancers taking part. Thirty countries participated, including Japan, Malaysia, South Africa, and Mexico. The event showcased an exceptionally high standard of dance, delivering memorable performances in a warm and welcoming island atmosphere.
The 2015 Dance World Cup Finals took place in Bucharest, Romania. The opening ceremony celebrated the arrival of passionate dancers and supporters from around the world. This year also introduced Club Wow, the media home of DWC, resulting in record-breaking online livestream viewership. High standards and outstanding talent defined the competition, creating unforgettable moments for all participants.
The 2014 Dance World Cup Finals were held in Algarve, Portugal, where around 3,000 dancers from 28 countries competed. The Congress Centre was filled with energy as dancers brought their culture and passion to the stage. The warm climate, stunning coastline, and lively atmosphere created an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
The 2013 Dance World Cup Finals were hosted in Brighton, England, where 3,000 dancers performed on the Brighton Dome Concert Hall stage. The opening ceremony featured professional performers from the English dance industry, including Unity UK. Dancers demonstrated outstanding skill across all categories, with participants attending from Malaysia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India, and many European nations.
